MY PROJECTS:
1. Turkish Book Club
Students have access to bilingual books where they can borrow a turkish book. The aim of the club is to encourage students to read books in their mother tongue language, to give parents an opportunity to read books with their children and help them improve their mother tongue.
2. British Education System Workshop.
This workshop introduced the British Education System to parents who knew very little or nothing about it.
3. Maths Workshop
This workshop took place in the Drayton Park Primary School. It was part of the Family Learning project aiming to improve the parents knowledge of how to help their children at home with: homework or playing together and so on.
4. Coffee Morning
We meet with parents and have informal chat about education, raising the achievement, attendance, punctuality books, housing individual problems and all sort of things that parents need advice about.
5. First Language Assessment
In these assessments pupil's needs in terms of language and learning are identified. They confirm if a pupil has a learning difficulty or just a language problem.
6. Organising Educational Trips
7. One-to-One Support
This support was regularly given to a new arrival girl to settle down by providing extra english lesson, books, games and listening activities at Elisabeth Gareth Anderson School.
8. GCSE Revision class
I was involved with organising the GCSE Revision classes for Y10 and Y11 turkish girls at Elisabeth Gareth Anderson School.
9. Interpreting during Parents' Evenings
10. Organise parents meetings
11. Turkish, Kurdish, Turkish Cypriot Conference in December 2007
I was involved with the organising of this conference.
