Race Equality

The statutory duty to promote race equality is now part of the new equalities legislation, which also covers gender and disability. For all three strands, schools must have due regard to the need to:

* Eliminate discrimination
* Promote equality of opportunity
* Promote good relations

They must also set out their priorities and demonstrate their actions by publishing a three-year action plan for each area, with a timescale for review.

The document below, entitled ‘Race, Gender and Disability Equality: making it work for schools’ shows you how to develop your policy and action plans as well as what OFSTED will be looking for.
