In this area you will find information, documents and links relating to KS2 to KS3 transfer and transition. There are details of some of the initiatives to support transition in Islington, including the work of the EAZs, and we will add more very soon.

General Transfer and Transition Information

Primary to Secondary Transfer and Transition

During the academic year 2003 – 2004 Hazel House convened a series of meetings bringing together colleagues active in developing, promoting, participating in and co-ordinating a range of initiatives to support primary - secondary transfer and transition in Islington.

Over the course of the year colleagues supplied written details of activities with which they were involved. We found the ‘five bridges to success’ model (originally presented by Gray, Galton & Ruddock in their 1999 research) useful, and some people have submitted their information under these headings, ie: bureaucratic, social, curriculum, pedagogy and the management of learning.

All information supplied will be posted on this site over the coming months, thanks to Marc Thompson of EMAS. It is very much a work in progress, so please feel free to send any additional information to Kathie Walsh.

As the pages develop we will consider pulling the information together in different ways, and to make it accessible to those

who may not have easy access to the internet. We hope too to provide further evaluation of some of the projects so that

we can avoid possible pitfalls, and share and build on best practice.

A blank pro-forma for submitting information under the ‘bridges’ headings is available by following the link below
