Ethnic Minority Achievement Service

Islington is one of a small number of local authorities which has never received specific government funding to support the education of pupils from traveller backgrounds. The borough is notable for the absence of any official traveller sites. That does not, of course, mean that there are no pupils in Islington schools from traveller or Gypsy/Roma backgrounds. There were 17 such pupils identified in January 2007. We believe there may be additional traveller or Gypsy/Roma pupils whom we have not yet been able to identify.
